This website is a partnership between Gathering Waters Conservancy and the American Farmland Trust.
The Working Lands Initiative was adopted by the State Legislature in June, 2009 to preserve Wisconsin farmland for future generations. (A summary the new law can be found here.)
This site is full of information about our state's new programs and the people making lasting land conservation a reality for Wisconsin agriculture.
We use this web site to keep farmland preservation supporters informed about Wisconsin's first Purchase of Agricultural Conservation Easement and Agricultural Enterprise Areas programs.
It houses a libaray of information for communities interested in pursuing farmland preservation. It also provides information for landowners interested in premanent protection of their farms.
Thanks to everyone who helped fight for Working Lands. Gathering Waters Conservancy and the American Farmland Trust ran the Campaign to see the Working Lands Initiative become law. We would not have succeeded without your efforts on behalf of Wisconsin’s farm and forest lands.
